The city of Lodz in located in central Poland, at a distance of 135 km to the south-west from the capital city of Poland, Warsaw. The once thriving industrial city has now become the third largest city in Poland, with an area of 293 km2.

We would like to present you Lodz as the city of culture and fun. It is a perfectly suitable place for shopping and the city is also the citadel of culture and art. Many museums, shopping centers, parks and other activities are waiting for us, regardless of age.

 


Shopping and Entertainment

If you want to go shopping, you can choose from many places. The exclusive, but not expensive shops can be found on the Piotrkowska Street and on the surrounding streets. The street lies between the Square of Liberty and the Independence Square, and has a large number of Western clothing brand shops.

The giant Manufaktura shopping center is the perfect place for shopping facilities, as well as other activities, as bowling and movies. There are several souvenir shops in the city, where you can buy some traditional gifts.

In recent years Lodz became the capital of nightlife in Poland. The parties are usually held until morning. The design of many pubs is eclectic or in style of art nouveau, but there are some modernly furnished ones with avantgarde music.

Cafes and Restaurants

The streets are full of cafes and exclusive restaurants, serving food of local and international cuisine. The typical Polish cuisine ingredients are beetroot, sauerkraut, cucumber, smoked sausage and mushrooms. Because of the multicultural effect on city of Lodz, a large number of restaurants are offering multinational and international food, including Italian, French, Japanese, Israeli and Chinese dishes. Vegetarians are also welcomed; you can find many meat-free restaurants, such as the popular Greenway, where the delicious and fresh dishes are served in a modern environment. In any case in the restaurants and cafes in the city of Lodz, you get excellent quality for your money.

Culture and Art

Beneath the programs of the theaters, cinemas, museums and galleries, the annual program of the city of Lodz includes lots of music, literature and fine arts events. Every year are organized almost 60 different festivals and events, of which many have an international importance. The Grand Theater organizes ballet meetings in every two years.

The Lodz Art Center, built on a nineteenth-century factory site, is a cultural and artistic center. It is also an exhibition space, and the place of festivals, conferences and meetings.

Useful information

Lodz has a changing climate with warm, sunny summers and relatively cold winters. During the summer the average temperature is around 25 ˚C (77 ˚F); while in winter is generally 0 ˚C (32 ˚F). Sometimes the city becomes a beautiful winter wonderland when the snow falls. It can rain at any time throughout the year, so you have to take that inconsideration and always prepare an umbrella, just in case!

This city of culture and fun is equipped with many modern and comfortable facilities, such as ATM machines that accept international cards, exchange offices and tourist centers. The official currency is the Polish Zloty (PLN).
