Olsztyn and Mragowo

There are some amazing sights which you do not want to miss in Olsztyn. For example, the impressive High Gate is just on your way to the town square and you will most likely to pass it. It is a remnant of the old medieval fort. Next is the Town Hall, you can just stand right across the street and take an up angle photograph of the old base standing foundation to the new building. In Poland, there are many memorial statue related to social realism.

Social Realism

Here in Olsztyn is one in the park between the Town Hall and the Planetarium. Olsztyn has many old architecture and helps you to easily sink into the past and soak into the nostalgic atmosphere. If you like shopping, enjoy the new town mall on pl. Pulaskiego. Finally, St. Jacob’s Cathedral and the Olsztyn Castle are both worth a visit. For St. Jacob’s Cathedral, it is simply huge and you can find it easily in the town center on ul. Staszica. The mixed styled castle has the oldest hunk of the original and you can contrast it with the newer elements right next to it.

Places to go

Planetarium at the al. Marszalka J. is worth a visit together as a family and especially if you have young children. It opens from every Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30am to 5pm. The other is the Astronomical Observatory or the Obserwatorium Astronmiczne. It is closed on Sundays, so better if you check the opening hours which is from 9am to 1pm from Monday to Saturdays. It is located at ul. Zolnierska 13. The other last two recommendations are Museum of Warmia and Mazury (Muzeum Warmii i Mazur) which is located on ul. Zamkowa 2 and Home of the Olsztyn Gazette (Dom Gazety Olsztynskiej). Both these sights are closed on Mondays. They have off seasons. You are highly recommended to check their detailed opening hours. So when they are in season, it opens from 9am to 5pm. And during the off season, they are only open from 10am to 4pm.

Attractions in Mragowo

There are several monuments and statues in Mragowo, for example, the Mragowo Wyrzezbione Miasto. You are recommended to see the Bismarck Tower too. Besides, there is an amusement and it is a great place if you have young children traveling together with you as a family. It is called ‘Western City Mrongoville’, so you can expect a Wild West-style adventure with rope park and ranch.
