Want to see the gorgeous riverside sanctuary of Poland? Then you must go to Skałka, Kościół Paulinów, Pauline Church. This is one of the most important religious sites in Krakow. Historically, the King Boleslaw the Bold accused Stanislaw Szczepanski and had him beheaded. The reason was of treason but the king’s family was sort of under a curse and they tried to appease the spirit. Pauline Church was built and the royal family made regular pilgrimages at the church to atone for the murder of the wronged bishop. The meaning of the word Skałka is ‘rock’ partly also the church is on the once-rocky promontory. Besides the tree trunk that hung the dismembered remains of the bishop, you can find it next to the altar. Skałka has become the national pantheon of Poland. There is a crypt beneath the church shelters where the twelve eminent cultural figures’ tombs are contained. You can find there the tombs of composer Karol Szymanowski, painters Stanisław Wyspiański as well as Jacek Malczewski.

Dolomity Sportowa Dolina is the ideal place for snowboarders and skiers’ recreation. It is in Bytom – Sucha Gora. Bytom is the city of coal mines and steel mills. It is situated at 290 meters above sea level and very centrally located in the Silesian Highlands. You can find very amazing architectures, nature reserves and wonderful rare birds and species of trees. Bytom though specialized in heavy industry, you can find cyclical events such as the Annual International Contemporary Dance Conference and Bytom Days. Sportsmen usually like this destination very much. It is also a cultural centre with museums like the Gornoslaskie Museum, Opera Slaska to name a few. If you like to see monuments and churches, there is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the St. Adalbert Church and the 13th century dolostone underground passages (Piwnice Gorywodow). You will also want to explore the Old Town as well as the many listed tenements, Segiet beech tree reserve in either the Zabie Doly or the Sucha Gora. Basically, the climate is characterized by occasional series of tropical air masses and ocean currents. Historically, it has an urban form that was based on the Magdeburg law. At the end of the 13th century, there were lots of battlements surrounding Bytom. It was invaded by Hussites in 1430. It was under the Hasbsburg Monarchy’s control in the 16th century but was freed in 1679.
