Located in central Europe, Poland has found its purpose as a holiday destination.

The beauty of Poland can be admired in the old cities and also in the wild scenery of the national parks and nature reserves.

There are many beautiful places in the country, but today we would like to present you a list of the top 10 tourist destinations in Poland.

Obviously, this is a list based on a personal opinion, but we tried to gather different types of famous tourist attractions.


The historic city of Warsaw

Warsaw is surely a famous tourist destination, where the historic center was renovated after the original plans and paintings from the 17th and the 18th century. Visit a cafe of the historic center, the Museum of History and antique stores. Take the elevator to the 30th floor of the Palace of Culture and Science, where is an observation deck that offers a panoramic view of Warsaw. This building was given to Poland by Stalin in 1953 as a symbol of the “Polish-Soviet friendship.”

The mansion of Frederick Chopin

Visit the mansion where Frederick Chopin was born in Zelazowa Wola at 53 km to west from Warsaw. The tourist attractions include an attractive park, concerts in the summer and the furniture and musical instruments from the 19th century.

The famous city of Lublin

Pass through the Krakow Gate built in the late 14th century and rebuilt in 1782. This gate is considered to be an architectural symbol of the city of Lublin and it is the main entrance to the historic center. It also houses a history museum. In the middle of historic heart of Krakow you will find the biggest market in Europe and the beautiful Town Hall.

The charming city of Wroclaw

Browse the 100 bridges in the city of Wroclaw. Other famous tourist attractions include the City Hall from the 15th century, the Ethnographic Museum of the Royal Palace and the Cathedral on Ostrow Tumski or Cathedral Island.

The beautiful city of Gdansk

Head for Gdansk to see the largest Gothic church in the world, the Basilica of St Mary. Spot is a nearby seaside resort that has the longest pier in Europe (500 m). In the surroundings you will find the Hel Peninsula, the region of the Kashubian Lakes and the Teutonic castles of Malbork and Gniew.

The Wieliczka Salt Mine

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is surely one of the top 10 tourist destination in Poland. 2 km of the 359 km long corridors are accessible to visitors. The tourist route goes to 135 m deep and includes impressive rooms, carvings, chandeliers and a chapel carved in salt.

Natural parks and nature reserves

The national parks and nature reserves of Poland are amongst the most important tourist destinations of the country. The Kampinos National Park is located near Warsaw, the Bieszczady National Park is part of the Carpathian mountain chain and contains portions of the great Bieszczady forest, inhabited by brown bears, lynx and wild cats. The Bialowieza National Park is one of the last refuges of the European bison.

Hiking and skiing in Poland

Go skiing or alpine climbing in the Tatras. Zakopane is a beautiful tourist destination being a mountaineering and winter sports center, which also offers a fairytale atmosphere with wooden houses and locals still using traditional clothes. Visit the Koscieliska Valley, the Kasprowy Wierch Mountain and Morskie Oko glacier lake.

The beaches of Pomerania

Relax on the beaches of the coast of Pomerania – Kolobrzeg or Leba. The beach is connected to the Slowinski National Park being famous its sand dunes that are moving a few centimeters each year.

The Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp

Bring a tribute to the victims of the Holocaust at the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, at 70 km from Krakow. It is a sad experience, but it will give you an insight of the historical facts, this is why we included it in our list of the top 10 tourist attractions in Poland.
