Warsaw’s Largest Park Palace Complex

If you are planning to Warsaw, you really must see the largest park, Royal Baths or Baths Park or ?azienki Królewskie Park-Palace Complex in Warsaw. It is 76 hectares in size and is smacked right in the city center. The structures in the park are in the following nine parts, the palace on the water, the Roman theater, the White House, the My?lewicki Palace, the Old Orangery, the New Orangery, the Temple of Diana, the Egyptian temple and last but not least, the Water tower. Near the park are some notable buildings such as the Belweder, the Ujazdów Castle and the observatory. Music lovers will not want to miss the Chopin Statue, the monument dedicated to Frédéric Chopin.

Of particular interest is its design by Augustyn Wincenty Locci. From its exterior structure, you can see the nostalgic of the Polish upperclass mansions, all of which are with side towers. A mixed of the Italian suburban villa and the French palaces with two oblong wings on each side. Also the enhanced gallery wings inspired by Palladio’s Villa Montagnana. Followed by a pavilion above the main building with towers covered with Baroque spires which makes it seemed like the Villa Doria Pamphili in Rome.

Adam Adamandy Kocha?ski’s added Motives

The king’s librarian Adam Adamandy Kocha?ski added his ideological and artistic ideas. So now you can see motives and decoration elements that glorifies the monarch with busts of king and queen, effigies of ancient characters, gods and emperors. From the facades to the sculptures and especially the ornate sundial on the south wall with Chronos. Chronos is the personification of time in the Greek mythology. Also with Uranus on the north wall to stress on the king’s patronage of science and orderliness in the Serenissima during his reign.

Palace Interior Space and Geometric Garden

Painters such as Martino Altomonte, Michelangelo Palloni and Jan Rayzner of Lviv’s work can be seen in the palace’s interior. The stucco are decorated Szymon Józef Bellotti, Antoni of Wilanów and Abraham Paris. Claude Callot was the court painters in charge officially. The sculptor was Stefan Szwaner. There is the famous Rembrandt’s Jewish Girl in a beret and Ferdinand van Kessel’s batalistic scene, allegorical paintings and still lives. If you step out to the garden grounds, you will see the beautiful Baroque Italian garden in the semicircle. Fully added with bells and whistles of adorn sculptures made of lead by Gaspar Richter. These were originally from Gda?sk. Some other details include vases carved in Ch?ciny’s cherry marble.
